Theory on Half Shutters

I've always been somewhat puzzled by shutters that only cover half of the window. They just look dinky and dumb to me. If you are going to have shutters, at least make sure they are worthy of your windows! These particular half shutters were on the window in the laundry room.

Even if I liked them, they'd have to get painted. So here's my theory on half shutters. They are for people who really like bright rooms, but also want to have the luxury of walking around their house naked. That's the only real possible reason. I'm convinced. So according to my theory, the previous owners of the house traipsed around naked all the time. That's a wee bit disturbing.

I took them down and I think the window is looking much more open and happy now. If a little dingy...
