Pumpkins & Stakes

The ground cover in the mountains are beautiful this weekend. Lots or reds & oranges.

She brought me a pumpkin leaf. I tried to smile and open my eyes for the picture, but it was too bright...
That's the best I could do...
Then, since it was Halloween and we were very concerned about vampires - Aaron made a double-sided wooden stake.


Thanks to him, we were fully prepared for a vampire attack. No blood-sucking on our campsite!
Fortunately - it wasn't a full moon - so we didn't have to worry about werewolves.

The Storybook Trail consists of this uber-fascinating history of how the mountains of the Shenandoah were formed. Did you know that there was once a giant lake covering the east central U.S.? As I said, uber-fascinating...
