Dwelling in Nursery La La Land

I've been all over the place lately. As usual. I really, really suck at focusing on one project at a time. Stephen isn't any better. Between the two of us, it always feels like we've got 50 ongoing projects.

We may actually have 50 ongoing projects. I haven't stopped long enough to count.

Throw pregnancy into the mix and my "must. complete. all. open. projects. in. entire. house. NOW." instinct kicks into overdrive. It's like nesting. On meth.

belly two weeks ago. after a day of fence post installation. hence the awesome hair/outfit.

I live in a constant state of urgency. I am a ticking time bomb set to explode in late April or early May. Once I go off, I'll be lucky if I remember to brush my teeth for several months and NOTHING will get done. I know this because I've done it once already with Joseph, only this time around I'll have a potty training toddler and a newborn baby.

Are you reading the slight note of panic in my typing? Trust me, it's there.

For the past few weeks, my brain & focus has been jumping back and forth between photography business, baby shower, the downstairs bathroom, Joseph's big boy room, gardening, & the back yard fencing project. Oh, and being a good, patient mother to a terrific little boy while keeping the house semi-clean.

...some days I even come close to succeeding. Oy.

Amidst all the chaos that is my unfocused brain exists two very persistent thoughts:

1. Joseph's former nursery turned office must be organized before baby is born or it will stay like this FOR.EV.ER.

eeek! it's morphing back into Stephen's old office!

My next three weekends are jam-packed, so I'm hoping to have this small disaster tackled by early April. Unfortunately it's not the kind of thing I can do with Joseph in tow.

2. Joseph's former big boy room turned new baby's nursery has to be completed before baby gets here or I will forever be stuck in Nursery La La Land and be driven mad... like I was when we decided to put a bathroom addition onto the nursery when Joseph was only two months old.

When we switched around the three rooms right before Christmas, everything from the old nursery just got dumped into this room. So, I already have everything I need. It's all there.

Honestly, it would just take one uninterrupted day of work to get it looking like a nursery. I'm essentially making a few tweaks while reusing everything from Joseph's old semi-neutral nursery (a room that I never shared on this blog due to the unfinished addition doorway).

Step 1: Musical dressers. The dresser in Joseph's new big boy needs to go in the guest room. The dresser in the guest room needs to come to the nursery because it's part of a set which matches the upright dresser already in the corner by the nursery door. The long dresser currently in the nursery needs to go in Joseph's big boy room.

Step 2: Rearrange furniture.
Step 3: Organize clothes, diapers, & supplies in drawers
Step 4: Hang curtains, art, and mobile.

The nursery is HAPPENING. By the end of this weekend. OR ELSE.

I must get my rear in gear before this little girl...

...decides to make an appearance.

Now that I've worked myself up into a state of semi-panic, I think I'm going to go get some furniture sliders and move some dressers around. Fear not. Without the drawers, they weigh practically nothing. ;)

  1. Awwwwww! She's beautiful!

It looks like you've been working super hard lately, I can't believe you get all of this done at home with a toddler! Pretty amazing if you ask me! It will happen, you have time. No need to freak out just yet :-)
